Mudguards for a pickup truck or SUV offer an effective solution to stay free of rock chips, dirt or splash and continue to keep a vehicle looking great. A set of heavy-duty mudflaps protects the side of a vehicle against flying debris, such as stones, while also acting as a guard to stop mud or tar.

Mud guards often come manufactured in molded plastics, such as formulated PVC, heavy-duty rubber, and thermoflex to mount most types of SUV's, vans, pickups, trucks or similar vehicle type. In addition to the impact-resistant plastics, a mud flap can also feature in powder coated Brite-tread aluminum for a more distinctive look and long-tern durability.

Mud flaps, with the large or traditional sized dimensions measures 14 - 34-inches in length, while a flap with reinforced rear surface is design to hold up in most conditions - including those in sub zero or extreme heat temperatures - this all ensures that no cracking, discoloring, or splitting takes place.

A PVC or heavy-duty plastic mud flap often comes in a standard black or dark gray finish, although some are paintable for a custom or individual appearance. A mudguard can also feature a variety of motifs or designs, such as logos or cartoon characters.

Dee Zee, WeatherTech, Cruiser Accessories, Husky Liner, and PlastiColor all manufacture a vast selection of mud flaps to fit most models of SUVs and pickups - including those by Nissan, Mazda, Honda, Jeep, Dodge, and Chevrolet.

Mud flaps often come designed to facilitate ease in mounting with all hardware included for home or workshop installation. On some of the mudguard systems, a minimal amount of drilling is a necessity. A complete splashguard system might only be required when towing a trailer - at other times its taken off to maintain the stylish nature of the pickup.

Mud guards offer an efficient means to prevent the build up of debris on the sides of a sports utility vehicle, pickup, or van, and that ensures much less rust, scratches, or body damage.
